The Bead Shop at Beadwrangler's Online Shopping Mall features beads that are typically used in beading, bead crochet, bead knitting, bead weaving and bead embellishment added to various fiber techniques such as knitting, crochet, weaving, quilting, embroidery and tapestry. Glass seed beads in four sizes: 15/0, 11/0, 8/0 & 6/0.
This terminology is very old and used to mean the number of beads that would fit along an inch when the beads are lined up with the bead hole on the surface. Seed bead surfaces are now much smoother and regular so now you would find twelve size 11/0 seed beads would fit along an inch. But the terminology still works as a reference for seed bead size. Other sizes are available (i.e. 10/0, 9/0, 5/0) but are not as popular and are not available in as many colors. At 7Beads.com the size 15/0 seed beads are Japanese seed beads and the size 11/0, 8/0 & 6/0 seed beads are Czech seed beads. |
