Jean Stitch Thread Information Page

Jean Stitch, a YLI product,  is a 100% spun polyester thread that is about the same thickness as sewing machine topstitching buttonhole twist.  Jean Stitch comes on 200 yard cones which is a real plus since most topstitching is on 50 to 100 yard spools.  Jean Stitch is manufactured in Japan.  Jean Stitch is a highly twisted size 30 thread that is luxurious in texture and sheen.  It is machine washable, dry cleanable and colorfast.

Jean Stitch can be used for crocheting or knitting with and without beads.   Seed Beads size 6 through 14 will fit on Jean Stitch.  I usually switch to thinner thread when working with size 13 and smaller seed beads.   Jean Stitch can be used for satin stitch and other embroidery techniques depending on the type of fabric you are applying the thread onto.  Jean Stitch can be used as warp thread in loom weaving for tapestries that will not require heavy warp threads.  Jean Stitch can be used as weft thread on small tapestries.  Jean Stitch makes great macramé' thread for fine work.  Try it as warp threads for needleweaving when you want to use seed beads rather than larger beads in a piece.  You could use thick Conso thread for outside warp threads and Jean Stitch for some of the middle warp threads where smaller beads are incorporated.   Metallic threads can be combined with Jean Stitch in any of these techniques.  I string seed beads onto Jean Stitch and Metallic thread at the same time when crocheting some items for special effects.  When crocheting with beads, steel hooks size 9 through 12 work well with Jean Stitch.  A medium twisted wire (flexible) needle is used when pre-stringing beads with Jeans Stitch.   Jean Stitch can also be used in sewing machines.  Jean Stitch is available in 26 solid colors and 4 variegated colors.  Here is a crochet sample of the four variegated colors (0VA, 2VA, 3VA, 4VA).
